Our Area
The service area of the Laguna Madre Water District is a wonderful coastal region located at the tropical tip of Texas. The communities in the LMWD service area include South Padre Island, Port Isabel, Long Island Village, Laguna Heights and Laguna Vista. The area is both a superior residential region as well as a tourist region that draws guests from all over the U.S. and abroad. We are pleased to offer our services to the people of this area and proud to call the Rio Grande Valley our home.
Laguna Heights
The community of Laguna Heights is serviced by the Laguna Madre Water District. This small community is located between Laguna Vista and Port Isabel very near the Point Isabel High School. It is partially situated on the Laguna Madre Bay. The area is predominately populated by full time residents and does include several businesses on HWY 100.

Laguna Heights

Port Isabel
Port Isabel, Texas is serviced by the Laguna Madre Water District. This coastal community is located on the Laguna Madre Bay. It is known for its fine sports fishing, shrimping, excellent local restaurants and a high quality of life.
The community features unique historical buildings and museums, a library, and several parks. Port Isabel is home to the smallest state park in Texas where the historic Point Isabel light house is still open for visitors.
The population of Port Isabel is 4,865. It has just over 2,000 housing units.
South Padre Island
South Padre Island is serviced by the Laguna Madre Water District. It is a resort community located on the barrier island of South Padre. The city is accessed by the impressive Queen Isabella Causeway via Port Isabel. The island is home to many businesses including fine restaurants, entertainment and shopping. It offers guests options of staying in hotels, motels, rented condos or homes. The full time residential population of the island was about 2,500 at last census. However, as a resort and second-home destination the current population can change dramatically with the season. South Padre Island is known for its fine sandy beaches, excellent fishing and water sports as well as its charming island-style hospitality. This area is also environmentally unique. The Laguna Madre Bay is a rare hyper-saline bay and the Gulf of Mexico is home to many varied and unique species. Guests to the island find a visit to the Sea Turtle rescue facility or the World Birding Center is a great way to get to know the special environment found on South Padre Island.

Long Island Village
Long Island Village is serviced by the Laguna Madre Water District. This village community is accessed by a swing bridge from Port Isabel and located on the Laguna Madre Bay. It is a small, private, residential community with excellent amenities provided by the Homeowners Association. The area features about 820 homes. Long Island Village offers rental options to guests with RV parking, park home rentals or cottage home rentals. The village features its own golf course, a restaurant, pro shop, library, indoor and outdoor pools, a clubhouse, tennis courts, exercise facilities and more. Retirees find the setting and secure environment of Long Island Village to be an appealing home or second-home location.

Laguna Vista
The town of Laguna Vista is serviced by the Laguna Madre Water District. This community is situated on a total area of 2.2 square miles. It is predominantly residential but does include several businesses. The town features Roloff Park, Veteran's Park, a library and its own police and fire service. Laguna Vista is a bay front community that is known for its scenic sunsets and natural beauty. It offers a wide variety of activities and an affordable, high-quality lifestyle.
Laguna Vista is home to the Padre Island Golf Course and an 1,800 acre gated community of homes. The properties found on the golf course include golf course view condos, harbor front town homes, Casitas and a variety of beautiful custom built homes. The Golf Course community features amenities including a club house, exercise facilities, tennis, pool, restaurant and walking paths. It was established in 1994 and continues to grow.
Laguna Vista is mainly a long term resident community although many residents consider it their second home and take up residence in the winter months. At last census there was a total population of 1,658 and 579 housing units. However, dramatic growth in recent years has most certainly increased those amounts.
